Richard came to visit us in August …. luckily the weather was nice and sunny, but not too hot.

Paul and I would like to wish Richard a very Happy Birthday today!  Hope you have a great day today with friends and family…wish we could be there with you to help celebrate.  Mom told me that Chiara is going to cook a special dinner for you and family tonight…enjoy!

Summer went by so quickly this year…now that it is Fall I can reflect on some of the highlights ….
We met the most beautiful baby in the whole wide world….Oliver M. Huel , our grandson. Orion and Beth and Oliver drove up here for a very short but very sweet visit in early August. Oliver at that time was 2 1/2 months old. He was born on the day that the Phoenix Mars Lander landed on Mars successfully…what a memorable day May 26 /08 is !!!!

In Early August, we took a 4 day trip into Swan Lake near the headwaters of the kispiox river with our friends Dan and Mavis. The weather and the paddling was fabulous…..

Marley and Freyja with their Elvolutionaries Troupe have been touring around Oregon and California recently, in their purple big bus that runs on used vegie oil. They have been busy bringing smiles and laughter to lots of people with their various performances. They do various interesting and challenging acts like juggling, stilt walking, acrobatics on silk ropes, writing and performing shadow plays, and more!
It sounds like they are being very well received at the various festivals that they have performed at. In August they will be back in bc to attend Shambala in the Kooteneys,
aug. 5-11th then to Cumberland the following weekend.

One of our favourite hikes is the Skilokis ridge hike not too far from home in the Suskwa Valley. Here are a couple of pictures from that adventure and a link to a gallery of more pictures at Skilokis photo gallery

With the few nice days we’ve had this year, we decided to take a hike on a very hot day - 33 C. We hiked the 5km trail into the blue lakes near Hazelton. We had a great hike but did suffer a little from the heat.

Oliver Mark Huel arrived at 1:50am on May26 at 7lb 10oz. His arrival was swift and magnificent due in part to his mom’s genetics and athletics, but mostly due to the fantastic support team that was there to bring him into this world. Oliver won the heart of all the nurses in the maternity ward with his good looks and natural breast feeding skills.

What happens next will undoubtedly be amazing!
